  1. Honestly, I don't really have a problem with the piano hours being different from the regular quiet hours. The reason being is that there are some nights where I wish to go to my room, shut the door, and study. Having the piano playing at night can be really distracting. I have a room really close to the down stairs lounge. With the door to the hallway and the door to my room shut, I don't really hear people being loud in the lounge, however I can very easily hear the piano. The reason that this rule was put into place was not to intentionally restrict or punish anyone, so please don't take it as such. If you do feel the need to practice the piano after 8pm during the week, feel free to go to the PCAC where there are open practice rooms until 11pm, I believe, all with pianos that are probably in tune (unlike our old thing lol=]) So please, to those who are unhappy with the new piano hours, I ask that you explore your alternate options, post on this blog to explain why they should be changed back, or attend hall council to voice your concerns. We are a family here, so we are more than happy to listen to you all.

  2. So, after the note was put up about the new hours, people were bitching about it for a few days. HC told us that we could have a revote if someone proposed it on Tuesday. No one showed up on Tuesday with anything to say about the piano.
Anyone with an opinion should be loud and proud. We really want to know! If you are not going to be proactive in the hall, not attending meetings that may have outcomes affecting you, then you have no right to complain about the rules.
For clarity, the above is in general, not just about the piano thing.

About the piano thing- We have courtesy hours all day for residents. people have classes and have to study, duh. After a few days the piano thing wasn't really a thing anymore, so I guess we're sticking the those hours!
